M5 Junction 8 Carriageway Repairs

Notice received from the Highways Agency:

We’ll be carrying out a permanent repair to the M5 southbound at junction 8 following the deterioration of the carriageway and the embankment at the side of the road.

Our work will start on 8 January, and we expect to complete by Summer 2024. Most of our work will be carried out under narrow lanes which have been designed to reduce the impact on the road user and travelling public.

A reduced speed limit along with speed enforcement will be in place throughout to protect both our workforce and road users.

To install our narrow lanes safely, the M5 southbound will be closed overnight between junction 7 and junction 9, from 8 January to 19 January, Monday to Friday. During this time, we’ll also close the M50 eastbound from junction 1, including M5 junction 8 northbound exit slip.

We’ll also be closing the M5 southbound at junction 8 overnight between the exit and entry slip roads, from 29 January to 2 February, Monday to Friday. This work is to remove the road surface from the hard shoulder and lane one.

During closures, we’ll install a full signed diversion (see image below).

Before closures are in place, we’ll monitor traffic levels each night, and aim to have the road fully closed by 9pm, reopening at 6am each day.

Please plan ahead and allow additional time for your journey.

We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme; however unforeseen circumstances adverse weather conditions may mean changes.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout.

Results of survey – new village hall for Saleway Parish

Following the news in late 2021 that Wychavon Council had a legacy grant fund application process, it was considered that a new village hall in Himbleton for the wider Saleway Parish, was something that could be considered.
There was limited time available prior to submitting the application so the Council took the decision to complete a brief survey to get an idea on local resident’s views.
The Council appreciated that this is not a detailed response and further work would be undertaken to complete a more robust plan, if the application was to go ahead.
Unfortunately the deadline passed for the fund applications so nothing further has been progressed at this time.
However there is potentially new grant funding available therefore the Council will be reviewing the project again soon. If anyone would like to be involved, please get in touch – salewayclerk@hotmail.co.uk
